I just had my basement waterproofed, and I cannot say enough about the amazing job that Anderson, Oscar, and Nelson did. They arrived Tuesday morning and had everything completely finished by Wednesday afternoon, so much faster than I expected. From start to finish, they were professional, kind, and respectful. They took the time to explain what they were doing, worked efficiently as a team, and left everything spotless. By the time they were done, my basement looked completely different! Clean, secure, and better than I imagined. I truly appreciate how polite and courteous they were the entire time, and how well they cleaned up after the job was finished. It’s rare these days to find a crew that delivers not just great workmanship but also such a positive attitude. If you’re considering basement waterproofing, I highly recommend asking for Anderson, Oscar, and Nelson. They went above and beyond, and I’m so grateful for their hard work.

*Update* since my initial review the basement authority has been in contact and corrected all mistakes. Including replacing the damaged basketball hoop We have had nothing but issues since the first day of install and we’re still dealing with issues. 10/16/25, First day of installation of our French drains inside our basement, removing 1/2 the wall of drywall, tearing out existing carpet and LVP flooring. We were told the crew would arrive at approximately 8:30am-9:00am, the crew did not arrive until 10:22am and when asked why they stated “we had to make a few stops” as they threw their McDonald’s breakfast bags in our trash cans. The crew they proceeded to call me at 12:15pm to inform me they were done for the day. So not even 2hrs worth of work on the first day. When they called to let me know they were leaving for the day I verified what time approximately they would arrive for day 2 on 10/17/25. I was again told approximately 8:30-9:00am. When I arrived home later that day my garage was filled with a pile the size of a small car of drywall pieces, busted concrete and water/ Gatorade bottles. 10/17/25, The second day of install at approximately 8:29am the electrician arrived and when he saw how little work was completed he stated he would have to wait for the installation crew to arrive because he couldn’t do his job until the crew gave exact location of where our sub pump would be. The electrician informed me he was also told the crew would arrive at approximately 8:30-9:00am. The electrician and I stood in my garage talking till approximately 9:30am and still the installation crew had not arrived. The electrician stated he would go to another job and return later that day. I made a call to speak to the installation supervisor who stated the crew would be there shortly. At 9:57am I received a call from the installation crew who stated they were approximately 30mins away. At 10:22am the installation crew arrived and while backing into our driveway struck our in ground basketball hoop that is off the driveway. That collision broke the backboard to our hoop, busted the concrete in the ground and twisted the entire pole approximately 30* to where the basketball hoop was now almost facing our house. Supervision of the installation crew was notified by myself and they stated they would address the tardiness as well as the damages done to our basketball hoop/pole. The installation crew worked till approximately 6pm and called to let me know they had finished. When I arrived home they had removed all debris from the garage area however they failed to remove the giant roll of old carpet from the middle of the basement. Additionally, when removing the existing LVP flooring they failed to remove most of what they were supposed to take out, snapped pieces off around our toilet and bathroom sink counter. Upon inspection of the clean out area of our French drain system they had also gotten concrete inside of the French drain system. The supervisor of the installation crew was again contacted and an appointment was made for 10/23/25 for him to come out to inspect the work done. 10/23/25 The installation supervisor arrived at approximately 12pm, the time he told me he would be there. He stated that the crew was late on 10/16/25 because they had training specifically related to “backing into driveways” that training really seemed to pay off seeing as they took our basketball hoop out on 10/17/25. Along the lines of the crews tardiness on 10/17/25 the supervisor informs me there is no reason they should’ve been so late. Upon inspection of the complaints I had with installation, a crew was called to pick up the giant roll of carpet which they did later arrive and pick up. The supervisor inspected the area around our sink counter and toilet and informed me that the LVP installation crew would remove our toilet/counter and fix the flooring properly. The supervisor opened our French drain clean out access point and his first words were “well that’s not what it’s supposed to look like” *post continued in photos*

Updated review: October 2025. I left a poor review on google two weeks after my basement was waterproofed, and got a quick reply from someone who wanted to fix my problem. It took a week for an inspector to get to my basement and determine that a bad job had been done on my basement. I was told I would get someone out in 1-2 weeks for a 2 hour repair job to make it look better. It took 5 weeks until the service men could come, but three men spent 4+ hours fixing the previous mess. Richard, Darwin and Jonathan did an amazing job! They actually fixed the basement waterproofing so it looks nice (not billowing and nasty!). They would get six stars if I could give them because they were kind and did good clean work. Richard really seemed to want the job to look good whereas the previous installer just said “it looks kind of bad, but I did my best.” (I sincerely hope that the initial installer did a good job with the stuff under the cement because Richard could not fix that.) I wish I had Richard and his team the first time around. Pros: they are willing to fix your basement multiple times (if you leave a bad google review). I had the initial installer, the a different guy come back later with some white tape (neither of whom impressed me), but finally(!) third time, Richard et al were able to make it look good. The basement looks amazing now and is waterproofed which I needed. I did not enjoy mold growing in my basement. Despite having two layers of waterproofing due to a high ceiling, the walls are now tight and snug. The supervisors and foremen are all really kind. They really individually want to make the basement look nice. Cons: 4 stars overall because I spent 11 weeks from start to finish waiting to get my basement waterproofed. My initial 2 day job took…. 75 days longer than anticipated (the contents of my basement have been sitting in corners of my house for 11 weeks because I couldn’t put them in the not-fixed basement….). Scheduling is busy, but I would have thought it would have been more important to the company to fix bad jobs before moving on to others. I wish they screened the foremen more carefully to ensure that only capable, qualified people (like Richard!) came to jobs as foremen. It probably would have been cheaper for them to have done it right the first time…. Initial review August 2025: (two stars) Book with Ohio basement authority if you want your basement to look like a five year old covered it with white duct tape! Pros: people are very polite to you (I’m sure they want your business). Cons: work is low quality with no attention to detail. No one noticed that our ceilings were higher so the regular waterproofing material didn’t reach to the top. Instead they taped more pieces together creating a bubble effect. Installers seemed unable to get the tape to adhere smoothly so it’s all bumpy and lumpy. Cement wasn’t smooth and was spattered on the waterproofing.

Jacob Letner Came to my house a few months ago when I was trying to get a loan from my house, I had to get the basement fixed first. He came very prepared, very knowledgeable, Super kind and patient. He found me that two of my walls were level Level three one was level two and the other wall was level one. I needed three different quotes for my loan and he took the time to give me three different quotes between doing the most needed walls which would be level four and then doing the two level four walls in level three wall and then all of them will be the third quote. He didn’t have to do that, but I respect and appreciate the fact that he did. And if I had any questions, he was more than happy to explain. And he definitely did that and as much detail as Possible. I unfortunately did not get the loan in time so I no longer live at that house, but I really appreciate the time energy and patience Jacob Letner had. If I ever need any basement fixes or anything, I’m definitely going to the Ohio Basement Authority. I definitely had full trust with them.

1 / 2 We had a mixed, at best, experience with Ohio Basement Authority. Our project was a complete finishing of our basement. In November of 2024, when meeting with the sales point of contact, we had a professional experience. They took about two hours to come out, hear our wants/needs, give us additional ideas, take measurements and put together a quote. We ended up awarding OBA our project Dec 2024, and the project start date was April 2025. Before the project began, it became clear that multiple items from the initial agreement and draft did not make its way to the project team that would actually be handling it. As a result, we had to approve change orders that cost us several thousands of dollars that were not a part of our original quoted figure (but would have been if everything were accurately depicted from the get-go). We were given a verbal estimate of 8-10 weeks to have the project completed (i.e. mid-June/early July 2025), and encountered many delays throughout the process. Our project got pushed out to “probably by the end of August”, then September, and then eventually was completed in mid-October, taking nearly six months beginning to end. Our experiences were that the sub-contractors were by and large personable and had varied amounts of skills – some were clearly learning on the go and were being trained on the job with our project being their own personal petri dish of sorts, and others were definitely more seasoned in the field. We saw the differences in quality of work between these two groups. There were several instances where work had to be redone due it to being done improperly the first time. We often heard from the sub-contractors that they didn’t know what to expect when they arrived on site as they were getting poor communication from the office, and that the company was in the midst of high turnover amongst laborers and management alike. Throughout the entirety of the project, we felt as if our project didn’t matter, and had a very difficult time communicating with anyone (office points of contact, our project manager, etc). It was always us having to bring concerns to them and reaching out to confirm that an individual was actually coming out on a given day (50% success rate on that). 2 / 2 Eventually this came to a head, and we had to reach out to the BBB to feel as if we were actually getting OBA’s attention. After that point, we had another individual assigned to our project as the point of contact, and from then on we largely saw progress as promised and had a much better two-way communication (thank you Justin!). Overall, we would not recommend doing business with OBA at this time until they’ve resolved internal organizational issues that impact the projects they’ve taken on. We are happy with how our project ultimately turned out, but it was an incredibly stressful six months of our lives and something that we felt as if we were an afterthought throughout the first five months of the project.
