My experience was outstanding. The estimator Alan arrived when he said he would and did a detailed inspection and answered any questions that I had. Kyle and Mario arrived as promised and were very friendly and knowledgeable. They completed the work in one day. Overall, I very impressed with the work that was done and that the chimney is back up to where it belongs. I very much highly recommend this company.

Dylan, our Certified Field Inspector from Ohio Basement Authority, was excellent! He was polite and professional, was honest during the inspection about the state of our basement. He didn't try to sell us on unnecessary work, but advised us on what to watch for as our basement/house continues to age. Integrity is important to me, and I would 100% both recommend Ohio Basement Authority to others with basement/foundation needs, as well as work with this organization in the future for our own needs. Our experience with Ohio Basement Authority was outstanding!

Do not ever use this dishonest and low quality provider. We used them to replace our old pump to put in a new one with battery backup. Guess what, they installed it incorrectly by essentially plugging it into itself. And had not even hooked up the grounding wire to the battery. This resulted in our basement flooding 2 weeks after the install. No alarms went off due to some sort of defective loop in the backup on top of their completely incorrect install. Did they do anything to make it right? No, they did not. After not being able to get hold of them on a Sunday… no 24 hr support, I had an actual reputable company come out. They discovered the battery was not hooked up correctly. While the other company was there someone from OBA finally showed up (after calling 3 diff people from weeks before), they commented to my FIL that someone probably switched things up after install. Yeah sure I just love having my basement flooded again… which is why I replaced the old one. After multiple attempts to get hold of them, sending them invoices for the emergency fix, as well as remediation and replacements in basement, they ignored everything. If I had a lawyer friend I would have taken them to small claims or similar but I just wanted to be done with it. Insurance fortunately covered (after deductible). Don’t ever use this company!

Recieved maintenance service today and cant say enough about Chris Maselli. Chris communicated well ahead of the appoint and arrived right on time. He confirmed it was ok to start the putdoor inspection while he waited patiently for me to arrive from work. He did a thorough inspection giving his assessment and recommendations while helping me prioritize what should be done first. He was kind, trustworthy, personable, and professional. You have a good egg with Chris.

I just received an annual inspection of my home's basement by a tall, slender technician (Chris M.), who tightened up the metal struts (beams) that were installed several years ago. Chris, turned out to be very knowledgeable for a tech who has only been with OBA for a little less than 2 years. He answered every question I had and offered advice for the future and assured me that another property I own, should I require service, he or his colleagues would be more than happy to offer assistance with that basement. This young man was exceptional and was the epitome of great customer service and I should know. As a co-author for The Customer Service Specialist Study Guide, used by the Electronic Technician's Association (ETA), in order to earn the coveted CSS designation, a candidate must complete our study guide. I know good customer service and Chris M., is an example of what people who deal with the public should expect. I don't know what his career mindset is, but if I were the management at Ground Works (Ohio Basement Authority), I would definitely put this young man in for a raise and have him be the face of service for others in his field. Thank you, Ohio Basement Authority for all the work you have accomplished in my home and I cannot think of any other company I would use for my basement or the basement of my late wife's home (that I now own)! As I have, over the years, I will continue to recommend Ohio Basement Authority (Ground Works), to anyone who has a need for basement or foundation repairs, inspection and in general, those issues an owner would have concerns with. I might add, once you hire OBA, you will find their pricing better than competitive.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They stole from us through deception to the tune of $6,000. They did not do the work they say they did taking advantage of my disability and inability to get into our crawl space. It was only when we hired a handyman to do some insulating that we discovered drain pipe that should have been buried under the ground was not. It was left laying on the surface. What's more is that they just used the drain pipe that was already down there. We now have standing puddles (probably ice now) in our crawl space. We have a wet foundation and who knows what effect it has had on any wood. It will now cost us in the range of $15,000 to fix that mess they caused through shady practices. A technician (Kimberly) was sent out to inspect a month ago. Nobody will call us back. Kimberly ignores texts. This is very well an admission of shady practices. We will be reporting to the BBB, the Attorney Generals office, and filing a claim in court. As I said, I am disabled, and have all day long to spread the message of their cheating the disabled which is a felony in ohio. Shame on this company and the people who run it!!!

UPDATE: Ohio Basement Authority is difficult to review because the work they do is pretty good and the people we've interacted with have largely been super nice and helpful. Matt, Danner, Stephen, and Mike were the best. BUT the communication in and from the office is SO bad that they ruin the customer experience. I don't think I ever received a call from the scheduler unless I called first and left a voicemail. By then, it's already 2 weeks past when we were told our work would be scheduled. It's been over a year since we first got our basement work done and we just now trust our basement to be dry again. We just moved all of our storage back down there last weekend. This extreme compound of delays and issues we experienced has largely been from the administrative side, so that's definitely an area of improvement for this company. You can see details below. TLDR: Is our basement dry now? Yes. Was it worth everything we went through to get there? No. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Had our basement waterproofed and crawlspace encapsulated in July of 2024. Everything seemed fine then and the basement looked amazing, but it didn't last. Some small water puddles began congregating around after the winter and we called to have Ohio Basement Authority look into the issue several times. It took months for this to be acknowledged at all and when someone did come out, they said they needed to regrade the concrete so it was sloped into the sump pump. Sure, that's fine - however, no one ever scheduled this work for us. Then, Columbus experienced unprecedented downpours on the weekend of April 4th. Our basement flooded over 3ft deep as a result of the issues with our waterproofing system that were never fixed by OBA. Had to spend an absurd $3,000 to get the water pumped out of a "waterproofed" basement. This never should have happened and it never would have if OBA actually cared to address our concerns, have technicians actually thoroughly look into the issues, and actually had management that bothered to schedule service when it's requested. We have finally at least had our main concerns addressed and our basement has been dry for a month now, I just hope it lasts. However, we still need concrete patched that they tore up when trying to find the issues. This has still yet to be scheduled despite asking for it for months. All this to say - I can't recommend OBA. Sure, the waterproofing may work great if they actually do it right the first time, but if you need any service or help whatsoever, good luck.

Ohio Basement Authority is the top choice for exceptional plumbing services at a competitive price. After maintaining my old sump pump for over 20 years, it finally gave out and it was time for a replacement. I was able to schedule an appointment at a time that worked best for me, and Kyle Lockard came out to install the new sump pump. He did an outstanding job! Kyle not only installed the new pump but also cleaned out a significant amount of grime that had built up over the years. Unlike other companies that simply check if the sump pump is working and call it maintenance, Ohio Basement Authority went above and beyond, as shown in the photos. I'm extremely grateful for the professional and thorough service they provided in replacing my sump pump the right way.
