Read until the end. Eastern inspected a buried oil tank that was discovered on my property during a home inspection, while selling my home. I was unaware of its existence to begin with. The tank was found to be foam abandoned, but according to Eastern, it was abandoned improperly. This is because they found "8 inches of liquid petroleum product" at the bottom of the tank when testing with a probe through the fill tube. After finding the company who abandoned the tank 11 years prior, and a lengthy back and forth between that company and Eastern (the buyer was requesting the tank be abandoned properly), I agreed to allow the original company (from 11 years ago) dig up my yard and RE-abandon the tank. They got to the top of the tank, cut it open, and while removing the foam, they hit liquid! Unfortunately for me, it was just rain water which had collected in the tank over the last decade+ and I had just destroyed a section of mulch bed, paid unnecessary money out of pocket for a job that wasn't needed, and delayed the sale of my home by 3 week (one extra mortgage payment just for fun). All of this, simply because Eastern's technician found rain water, mistook it for petroleum product, and sold the buyer a horror story of environmental concerns.

Another company was originally offered to me but they didn’t seem like they were concerned about anything other than my insurance check. I didn’t initially realize that I can chose any company I wanted. Eastern took the time to assess the situation and kept me informed along the way while offering me options. Terrible attitude on the part of the team. The work was sloppy and rushed. Many aspects of the job were unfinished and not corrected and created huge problems for my family. The project manager was never onsite. My family had huge health issues and the sloppy work at very high prices created huge health hazard. I would never hire them.

I decided to abandon the 35 year old underground oil tank at my home and have it replaced with an above ground. Jim came to the house to look over the job and within a day or two emailed me the quote and contract. Three guys came over to do the job with two trucks. They were very professional and each did his portion of the job. They were very neat and efficient . I was very impressed with their work. My oil company came over to inspect the new tank and called it a very nice job. I highly recommend Eastern Environmental.

We had an oil spill of 275 gallons of fuel oil. We are on a lake so we were very concerned. Doug was in charge of correlating what needed to be done and when. He was very efficient and a pleasure to work with. Always available by phone. Jamie was incharge of the crew, also very efficient and accessible. James at Eastern Environmental was incredible to work with! I had a bad experience with a different firm I originally hired for a tank abandonment. They identified a minor spill and started advising me on "solutions" that would have made them a lot of money and been really destructive to my property. Within 20 minutes of assessing the situation, James worked with the state to come up with an alternative plan that saved many thousands of dollars, was still good for the environment, and did not put my house at risk for structural damage. The whole issues was resolved in a week. I highly recommend James and Eastern Environmental!

Great company. Worked with James Mulvey. Ready to answer any and all questions. Easy to contact. He was very knowledgeable. We needed a Phase II testing done on our gas station to put it up for sale. Mr. Mulvey took care of everything from contacting and implementing the work required by the DEC and writing up the reports without delay so we could go to closing. I highly recommend this company.
