I had Innovative Basement Authority - now Groundworks out to my house in Duluth, MN to encapsulate my crawlspace November 2025. I had very high expectations after working with their wonderful estimator Bryce. Unfortunately, those expectations were not met by the three contractors (whom I will not mention by name) that came out to install my "encapsulation". They took four hours for the 3 of them to "complete" the job. It was very poorly done - lots of air gaps where you could still feel a rush of cold air coming in from outside (it was about 32 outside when they were here) and some of the sheet Insulation was very far from the plywood skirting. (I could have done better myself based on common sense to block air gaps.) When the company super, Cory/Kory, called to see if I was satisfied with the work later that day, I told him what I noticed when I crawled in there to check on things. (Had sent complaints and photos to the estimator to send to whomever needed them prior in the day.) The Super said he would look at a calendar to see when they could come back out to make it right which was a couple days later to which I stated that crew can only come back with supervision because clearly they didn't check each other's work the first time for quality assurance.. (now it was about 50 outside so harder to feel the air difference). Even after coming back a second time to fix what should have been done properly at the start, my crawlspace was still not air-tight as should be expected in an "encapsulation". Also debris everywhere from cut sheet Insulation in my basement and just big clumps of foam everywhere in crawlspace- no excess was trimmed to make it look clean like in their online photo example of what you think youre getting when you have them come out to your house. I am disappointed to say the least. I just finished filling in the still existing cold air gaps myself, wasn't going to invite them back a third time. (All photos are their handiwork after their second time here.) My advice is to have an able body check their work - if I hadn't - I would have frozen pipes right now.

Explained everything they were doing, were more than happy to answer all our questions and they were so fast! I wasn’t looking forward to having this project done but now that it is, I am so happy! I would recommend this company to everyone. If all their installers are as amazing as Ben, Tristin and Wyatt, then you just can’t go wrong. Thank you guys for making a big project less stressful. I had a meeting with Bryce yesterday regarding my foundation drain tile and the surface drain tile system which had failed above it that I had started repairs on. He assured me I was doing what he would do if I hired him and I should have no problem continuing on whith my repair as the price he would have to charge would be pretty high and an unnecessary expence since I was on the right track already. He gave me few key pointers and as well as his preferred materials for the system. I completely trust his judgement as his experience level is plainly expert level. I appreciate his vote of confidence in my work and his honesty which saved me thousands of dollars!
