Please Read Before Paying for Mold Remediation by any company. I’m sharing this experience so others don’t pay for mold remediation they may not actually need. I take responsibility for my part in reacting and making a decision out of fear, but what I learned afterward is important. Before I purchased my home, a mold air test was done. The raw count in the basement was 5 for Aspergillus — which I now understand is considered normal and was only slightly above the outdoor air which was 4. A swab also detected another common mold on a piece of furniture that was removed before I moved in. During the final walk-through, the basement smelled musty and there was a lot of a brown dirt looking substance on the wall where the furniture was removed by the seller. Due to my health sensitivities, I panicked and contacted BioClean immediately. BioClean came out and told me there was widespread Aspergillus on the ceiling joists and recommended full remediation: ceiling tile removal, HEPA vacuuming, encapsulation, negative air containment, air scrubbers, full-house cleaning (basement and upstairs), and a dehumidifier. Words like "alarming" were used which made me feel all the more scared and the need to have this done urgently. The cost was $7,500. I agreed again out of fear. Afterward, several areas that should have been cleaned were not cleaned at all. There was visible dirt even though I was told that they were. I took pictures and sent them in. Then, the cleaning crew was sent back. BioClean’s post-work test later showed a raw count of approximately 11, which is still considered a low and normal range. At the time I did not know that. They continued to offer the cleaning crew to keep coming back, but once trust is lost why would I ever want them to come back to my property. There were enough chances give. I asked for a partial refund, and was told they feel this was a successful mitigation. I then brought in an independent environmental specialist, who reviewed all lab results and inspected the home. His findings: -The original raw count of 5 did NOT warrant remediation ever. -According to the naturopathic/functional medicine health community, counts at this level are not considered harmful. -Cases that truly require mitigation typically involve raw counts much higher. -There was no swab testing or photographic documentation to support the claim of widespread Aspergillus. -If the ceiling were truly contaminated, the tiles would have needed to be removed, not just vacuumed. -He stated clearly that I NEVER NEEDED remediation. My advice to anyone dealing with mold concerns: Do not make decisions out of fear Always get an independent second opinion, and do research thoroughly. Learn what your raw count numbers actually mean and not by the company you are considering hiring. This applies to any mold remediation company — not just BioClean.

We had a great experience with BioClean recently. Hope to never have to do this again, but it’s good to know there’s a comprehensive, thorough, and fair company locally that does quality work. We had them remediate an extensive mold problem throughout our attic. In addition to the remediation, I really appreciated that they offer services to treat the source of why the mold grew to begin with. For us, this was adding proper baffles and rerouting 2 bathroom vents through the roof (they were previously directed to the soffit). Every other company I spoke with only did remediation and it was on you to take care of the source, which is exceptionally unhelpful for this problem and probably why this line of work has a bad reputation. The weather has not been kind this week with multiple days of soaking rain since the work was completed. Upon inspection during heavy rain 10 days after the work was finished, there were no problems with leakage around the new vents and everything continues to look good! With the 5 year warranty they offer, it’s nice to have that security and it’s clear the company believes in the quality of their work. It was not cheap, but for the quality and comprehensive nature of the work we felt the pricing was absolutely fair. The 3 workers that were involved were very professional and treated our home with respect. One of them was even nice enough to bring in a 30 lb box of dog food that arrived while they were here which was not expected at all but much appreciated! Their office worker, Elizabeth, was also very professional and a great help throughout the entire process. Thank you BioClean!

I had an estimate done for mold removal and everyone at BioClean was so helpful and professional throughout. I ended up going with a different company that was cheaper, but was not providing the same level of work that BioClean planned to do (just due to my very limited budget -- I think BioClean would have done a better job), and it was even easy to cancel with them! They refunded my deposit without any trouble. I would definitely recommend getting an estimate. The technician I worked with was Sal and he was very helpful and knowledgeable, and everyone I talked to at the office was great.

Unfortunately, I've had a mixed experience with BioClean CT. The initial consultation on the work required, detailed billing, prompt replies, and servicing were all excellent. During the mold remediation work at home, I had some difficulties getting updates at the end of each day to see where the team was. Since BioClean recommended we not be home during the remediation, I worked remotely from my in-laws and wanted to ensure the house was kept unlocked for a short time. An accident occurred while the remediation work was being performed. One of the workers slipped on an attic joist and fell through the ceiling. BioClean was very transparent about the incident, and it was patched and painted quickly. I appreciated how they responded to the incident; luckily, no one was injured. After the patchwork was completed and the final payment was provided, I noticed a powerful smell (non-bleachy) coming from the attic. I contacted BioClean CT about it, and they asked me to wait a bit to see if it dissipated. It's been almost a month, and the smell is still quite strong. I spoke to Tommy a few times, and he promised to contact me to see if someone could come by to investigate, but I have yet to receive a callback. I have to take the initiative to talk to someone each time. Their customer communication skills do not match the quality of their mold remediation work. Given my experience, I can't recommend them. Once they were paid, my issue was more of an afterthought. The smell could be nothing, but it isn't being taken seriously, considering it's lasted so long.

The whole team at BioClean is great. They did work to remediate mold in our basement and did a wonderful job. The office team was responsive with checking in weekly as we waited for approval from the insurance company. Once the claim was approved, they were able to get started quickly and did the work in the time they had projected. The team that did the work was friendly, knowledgable, and experienced. I highly recommend them.

I had a mold problem that resulted from a major wind/rain event. The property is a commercial building with 6 storefronts and 6 basement storage areas. Water damage occurred in some of the storefronts and all of the basement areas. I contacted BioClean and they were terrific from start to finish. They explained the process, recommended an excellent and trustworthy mold inspector and then they came to do the remediation necessary. They guided me and the tenants about what was salvageable and why and what had to be discarded because of the exposure. They not only did the remediation, but they recommended and installed corrective commercial dehumidifiers, plus they even handled some contracting work to fortify and protect some beams. They were professional, courteous and responsive at all times. I had the confidence that everything was done in a way that was not only legally required, but protected the health of the tenants and the health of the property. I would call them before I would call anyone else should I have a similar problem there or anywhere else.

Our attic had a mold problem and we contacted BioClean CT. We were very pleased with the entire process. They were very professional. What impressed me the most was that they explained all the steps so we understood exactly what they would be doing. Once completed, they tested the area again for mold and the results were negative---making us happy customers.

I do NOT recommend BioClean. They have held up my moving process for WEEKS and have made an already incredible stressful situation (me being permanently displaced due to mold in my rental) even more stressful. I cannot plan my move until I get a quote for remediation of my personal items and every day when I call I'm told that "the technician is working on it". I now have to scramble to find someone else so I can move in 4 days. I am beyond frustrated and upset.
