We found mold in our master bathroom ultimately due to lack of adequate exhaust and an improperly sealed window. The company was quick to respond and soon had the bathroom tested, sealed off, and machines running. They were very considerate to mine and my husband's concerns about limiting tear out by really focusing on the problem area then expanding the search. We were so insistent at limiting tear out (not an insurance case :S) that a minor amount of mold was missed after the first mitigation effort. They still assumed responsibility and did not charge us for the second test that came back positive. They came back and luckily got it all after a second pass. The whole process took a little over a week. I appreciate their continuous customer service by answering my ten million questions during multiple phone calls and being super considerate of all of our concerns. The tear out was limited so that my handy husband can do the build back himself without breaking the bank. Not gonna lie, the bill to Stars & Bars was depressing but mold mitigation isn't cheap anywhere you go. The efficiency, consideration, and customer service was worth it.

We had a quarter inch of water in approx. half to 3/4 of our unfinished basement. After initial discussions and a commitment by me to pay Stars and Bars for the services they would render there was little to no communication, I had to request pictures of the damage etc. whereas most companies in my experience provide these immediately. When we did receive an invoice it was excessive to say the least (I’ve had other water related losses at other homes that were more significant and didn’t cost as much). Lastly, my invoice gave me 30 days to pay, yet I was contacted 4 times over the next 2 weeks with escalating and borderline harassing messages that I needed to pay my invoice ASAP. I had to call Stars and Bars and tell them to stop contacting me prior to my invoice due date and to not contact me till I had actually missed my legally obligated date to pay. I will not use Stars and Bars ever again

Had water damage and reached out to these folks as they popped up first on google. The one positive thing I can say about them is they were out same day. They began dry out and mold removal. At first the told me the water was coming from the window. They cut out the wet areas and told me they found mold, but that they would get it removed. Felt good about them at this point. They set up a containment zone, and assured me mold had been removed. After almost 2 weeks, another guy said it was water coming up through my foundation. After another week, insurance denied the claim due to their findings. I told them to remove their equipment since the insurance company wasn’t paying for it. Again, as they left, they assured me mold was removed. Fast forward 3 weeks, I hired another contractor to replace the drywall this company removed. On the very first cut, the insulation behind the drywall HAD MOLD. We ended up removing all the drywall along that wall, only to discover that the source of the water leak was a failed plumbing seal on my main water line…so not the window, or the foundation. So not only are they ignorant to finding the source of the issue, they also don’t know how to completely remove mold, which is kind of the expectation for a restoration company. When I reached out to let them know what I found, they offered to come back out and continue mitigation for some reason. They didn’t seem to understand that we ended up doing it ourselves. They complained about not being paid yet, and even doubled down on their findings. I hired them to remove the water and find the source, and they failed on both. They want over $7000 from me, and actually made the issue worse by misdiagnosis and allowing it to fester for another 7 weeks. Stay far away. These people don’t know what they’re doing, and lack accountability.
