I contracted with Groundworks to demo and replace the entire foundation for my home (built in the 1930s) in Petaluma, CA. The foundation was original to the home and falling apart. This job was competitively and transparently priced by the inspector/Estimator Adam Mier, who was referred to me by a professional colleague. I did obtain other bids, but Adam was the only estimator that addressed all of my concerns and factored permitting and engineering fees into the bid upfront. Once work began, the foremen on the jobs (Tyler, Nestor) were professional and excellent communicators, and kept the job site clean and organized. With the help of Jose and Erick, they finished ahead of schedule and were able to save me costs. They worked around a number of issues on the jobsite, including access challenges and bad winter weather. I would trust this company with your foundation and concrete projects over the competition, especially projects like mine (that are extensive and potentially expensive) because they have a competent team of professionals working for them.

Great experience working with Groundworks: from our first meeting with Aaron, to job completion today, all was top notch service. Our foreman Luis was so nice to work with, along with his crew Ken and Mark. They were efficient and got the job done perfectly. We had them remove old insulation, replace all foundation posts, and bolt the house to the foundations for earthquake protection. This was a much needed project that we kept delaying, and we are so glad it’s finally checked off our list!

Absolutely amazing how these guys come out and raise your patios in such a short time. Anthony and Brian from the Poly crew team just knocked it out. Got here on time were very nice to deal with and got right to work raising my patio slab about 1 1/2” in such a short time. They cleaned up afterwards and left my yard in excellent shape. I was very impressed with their professionalism. Special shout out to them both! Just dealing with Groundworks from the 1st call to having Mr Dalton come out to give me estimate to having good guys come out and fix my patio. I highly recommend this company! Very straightforward and honest company.

I worked with Aaron and was extremely grateful for the opportunity. My husband and I are new home buyers and we’re assessing the extent of the foundation issues on the home we were under contract with. The sellers had an inspection completed, but thankfully we always want to ensure we have our own inspection. As a result of Aaron’s extensive assessment and detailed report, we were able to make an informed decision. Grateful for the integrity he brought to our biggest decision.

What I watched was an amazing, well trained team of experts, manage to put my 2800 sq ft house on 15 piers that went 20 to 40 feet into bedrock and several others that went under my home to secure it in place. My house is now stabilized. The crew was fabulous. The foreman kept me up to date throughout the project, even when I was out of town a few days. This, to me, was a truly amazing feat. Thanks Groundworks!

Most important name to remember is CODY . Last year I had to have screw jacks installed on one side of my house (split level home). The groundworks crew (previously without Cody and Erin) was mehhh. They tried to upsell and say I needed an additional 4k of work more than I already agreed upon and actually needed. Nope just do the original work. So a year later in comes CODY for warranty inspection due to a hump in my floor. This guy is phenomenal, on time, polite, explains everything with pictures. What a relief to get customer service like this, it's almost like watching an old time movie where everything was perfect. They did offer upgrades, but they weren't pushy about it, I respect that. Couldn't be happier with CODY and Erin. 6 stars for CODY!

We had the Fairfield, CA Groundworks come out and lift our foundation. Chris came out and gave us a proposal of $93,000 after a 10% discount if we signed within a 72 hour period of meeting with him. Chris failed to tell us that we would need to have our air conditioner moved, a flex line put on our gas meter and to move our house filtration unit. This was unexpected costs for us. Brandon and his crew were wonderful. Very respectful and cleaned up daily before leaving. When they dug down to find the bottom of our foundation, they had to dig 5’ to reach to where they needed to put the piers in to lift the house. Apparently, a normal foundation is around 18”. So, a 2 week job took them a month to finish. Because our foundation was so deep they had to rip out more of the cement walkway to be able to dig that deep down to reach the foundation. At that point I told them to rip the whole walkway out and we would have it poured new, which we had to pay an extra $6,000 to remove the concrete. Then, we had to pay a contractor to pour the new walkway, which was an additional expense we weren’t counting on. I could tell Brandon and his crew was exhausted from all of the digging they had to do but still were respectful and professional. I felt bad and asked them if they would get a bonus for all of the extra hard work they had to do? Brandon was reluctant to answer but I pressured him on the answer and I told him to be honest with me. He told me the only way they get a bonus is if they were to finish before or on time of the proposed finished date. So, because our foundation was so deep and kept them here 2 weeks longer, they DID NOT receive their bonus. What company would punish their employees because of something that was out of their control. THIS IS WHEN THEY NEED THE BONUS TO KEEP THE MORAL UP. I’m extremely disappointed in this for them. Chris had inspected under the house when he came to give us the proposal but failed to tell us we needed 83 jacks. We didn’t find out that we needed jacks until Brandon, the foreman, went under the house after he and his crew had finished lifting the foundation. We were quoted an additional $43,000. I was not happy but had to have it done as the job wouldn’t have been complete. Groundwork's met us halfway and came down to $22,000. They did throw in the 5 year service agreement but if I had to do it all over again, I would find another company who is more honest about everything, so we wouldn’t have had so many surprise extra costs. Our $93,000 job ended up costing approx. $150,000 and some change. I would suggest before the foreman gets started on the job, I would send him under the house to see if anything else is needed, so you do not have the surprise costs that we had. Also, ask if any of your equipment will need to be moved. Kudo’s to Brandon and his crew for doing such a wonderful job considering all of the circumstances.
